Upcoming Vote: Permanent Prohibition Of Taxpayer Funds For Abortions

UPDATE:  5-04-11 Passed/agreed to in House: On passage Passed by recorded vote: 251 - 175 (Roll no. 292).

May 2, 2011

The House will vote THIS WEEK on a H.R. 3, government-wide, permanent ban on tax funding for abortions. The legislation will also ban subsidies for abortions under the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act,” remove tax-preferred status for abortion through company health savings accounts, AND provide “conscience clause” protection for medical professionals.

This comprehensive legislation is a very strong pro-life measure which needs to be passed overwhelmingly by the House.

For a concise overview of the proposed legislation, go here.

However, there are some 24 Republicans who have NOT co-sponsored H.R. 3 and who therefore may not support its passage.

ALL Republicans House Members should be encouraged to SUPPORT H.R. 3 and to OPPOSE any hostile amendments that the pro-abortion Members may offer.
