Two good pro-life bills which also cut tax funding for abortions will be coming to the floor of the U.S. House perhaps as early as Thursday. Your help is needed to insure that they both pass the full House.
H.R. 358, Protect Life Act, specifies that under ObamaCare, no federal tax money can be used to pay for abortions or abortion insurance coverage, including tax credits and cost-sharing reductions. It requires that individuals or local/state governments must purchase separate insurance riders to cover elective abortions and not use any funds authorized by ObamaCare. Pro-abortion Democrats are expected to bring up weakening amendments on the floor, even though they were soundly defeated in the committee.
H.R. 2059 will defund the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in order to save both tax dollars and babies. If enacted, the bill will save $400 million over ten years (the UNFPA reportedly has more than $500 million in reserves) and will make a strong statement against China’s draconian one-child/forced abortion policy which the UNFPA supports. As with H.R. 358 (above) many hostile amendments were defeated in committee and will likely be introduced on the floor.
